Responsible for improving the professional and technical expertise of government finance officials. Recommends and coordinates continuing professional education seminars and activities for members.

Media & Publications Committee

Responsible for providing timely information concerning the organization, members and other relevant topics affecting membership. This information is currently distributed via the Web site, newsletters and e-mails.

Finance Oversight Committee        

Responsible for reviewing internal controls, policies and procedures, the annual budget and treasury operations in relation to the financial  transactions of the Chapter. This committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors and presents an annual report on the fiscal position of the Chapter at the annual business meeting.

Linda McDermott is the Budget Manager for the City of West Palm Beach. She earned a Masters in Public Administration and previous to to that, had a 17 year career in Bank Management.  Working for the City for 28 years , she has experience in Police Dispatch, Police Fiscal Management and currently the City Budget office for the past 3 years. She has a passion for seeking new revenue sources, grants and analyzing fees and service costs to ensure tax payer dollars are leveraged with other funding sources and local partnership cost sharing. Fire Assessment Fees, alarm fees, Asset Forfeiture revenue uses and Tax Increment Financing studies are among many projects she has enjoyed making a difference.


Membership Committee

Responsible for promoting interest in the Chapter, conducting membership drives, and recommending applicants for membership. This committee keeps records of pertinent information concerning each current and terminated member of the Chapter.

Social/Event Committee
Responsible for planning the networking events and activities for the Chapter and encouraging the participation of its members.

  • Town of Gulf Stream, Town Accountant
Rebecca Tew currently serves as the Town Accountant for the Town of Gulf Stream.  In addition to her duties as Finance Administrator, Rebecca also is responsible for overseeing the Town’s permitting and Occupational Registration program, as well as serving as the IT Coordinator and GIS Tech for the Town.  

Originally from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Rebecca graduated from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She has devoted many years serving on non-profit boards such as the MOMS Club International West Clayton Chapter President and the Secretary for the Volunteer Fire Department of Stedman, North Carolina.  She began her government career in the City of Fayetteville, North Carolina and found her true calling in life; serving her community.

Rebecca moved to Florida and began working for the Town of Gulf Stream in 2014.  During her time in Florida she has diligently become involved in her community, even serving as the head announcer for the Upwards Basketball and Cheerleading League based out of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Wellington for three years.  Professionally, she undertook the task of building Gulf Stream’s very first budget document to submit for the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and has since been awarded the award three times. She looks forward to contributing to the growth and expansion of the PBC Chapter of the FGFOA as the Social/Event Committee Chair.
